A Span Development in Weybridge

20th-century British Modern

Holme Chase is a quiet, leafy retreat where the houses sit naturally among the trees. The open glass and shared lawns create a balanced, thoughtful connection between private living and the surrounding landscape.

This website is the online presence for the estate and the Holme Chase Residents Society (HCRS).

About

Timeless Community Living

Holme Chase is a community of over 60 homes celebrated as a premier example of 1960s Span architecture and the modernist vision of Eric Lyons. The Holme Chase Residents Society (HCRS) maintains this meticulously planned green landscape, fostering a timeless environment where original residents and new families alike enjoy a unique blend of gentle density and contemporary living.

History

A Lasting Legacy

Eric Lyons and Span Developments brought Bauhaus-inspired modernism to British housing. Rejecting ‘fake historical’ styles, they created communal, functional estates like Holme Chase. These ‘total environments’ prioritise shared greenery and resident-led management. Today, we celebrate Holme Chase and Span for bridging the gap between high-end architecture and accessible, community-focused suburban living.
